John Kyle Dorman, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Dorman grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated cum laude from Baylor University with a bachelor of science degree in biology. While at Baylor University Dr. Dorman received the Presidential Scholarship. He then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas graduating in 1994. While in medical school, Dr. Dorman received several awards including the Alpha Omega Alpha research scholarship and the Ivan Bruce Memorial Award. For his research, Dr. Dorman also received an NIH grant during his second year of medical school.

After graduating medical school, Dr. Dorman completed his general surgery internship in Norfolk, Virginia as well as a two year fellowship in pediatric intensive care in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Dorman completed his neurosurgical residency at The University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dr. Dorman was certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 2006 and was inducted into the American College of Surgeons in 2009.

Dr. Dorman moved to Midland, Texas in 2004 and practices in both Midland and Odessa at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center Hospital respectively. Dr. Dorman is currently the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Dorman is a member of The American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the Midland County Medical Society where he serves as President.

Dr. Dorman's neurosurgical practice consists of spinal and cranial surgery. In addition to evaluating and treating patients, Dr. Dorman advances his field through research and innovation. He has published articles in peer reviewed neurosurgical journals and has filed for several patents for surgical devices he has invented.

When he is not working, Dr. Dorman enjoys spending time with his family, playing the drums, and traveling.
